AIH drug trials launch

Phase II trials of a new drug designed to treat patients suffering with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) have been launched.

LifeCycle Pharma said that LCP-Tacro will be tested at a maximum of 12 centres in the US and Canada, with around 60 patients expected to take part.

AML drug begins phase II trials

A phase II clinical trial of a new acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) drug designed for elderly patients has been initiated.

Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals said that oral sapacitabine is being studied to determine the survival rates of patients who have not been treated for the disease, or are experiencing their first relapse, when they are given one of three different doses of the drug.

Phase II trials of diabetic ulcer drug launch

Phase II trials of a topical drug designed to treat diabetic foot ulcers have begun, it has been announced.

Innocoll revealed that CollaRx Gentamicin Topical, which is designed to deliver a powerful dose of antibiotic to the infected area, is to undergo a total of three separate phase II tests.

MMD drug gets orphan designation

The US Food and Drug Administration has given a new drug designed to treat patients with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy (MMD) orphan drug designation, it has been announced.

Drug firm Insmed said that Iplex had been given the nod from the body as the drug continues to undergo a 24-week phase III enabling trial in patients suffering from MMD.
