Imaging drug begins phase III trials

A drug designed to help healthcare providers identify if a patient is suffering from a Parkinsonian Syndrome or a tremor unrelated to the conditions has begun phase III trials in the US.

Alseres Pharmaceuticals confirmed that the first patient had been enrolled into its study of Altropane, a molecular imaging agent which the firm hopes will help doctors make an accurate diagnosis and ensure that patients receive the appropriate treatment.

Cancer drug trials expanded

Phase II trials of a new phase II cancer drug have been expanded, with plans to conduct further tests at other centres also in the pipeline.

Provectus Pharmaceuticals said that a study of its injectable medicine PV-10 – or Provecta – has launched in Brisbane, Australia, following previously initiated trials in Sydney.

Migraine drug trials completed

Clinical trials on a new migraine treatment based on a drug being developed for patients with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder have completed patient enrolment, it has been announced.

AZ-104 is a lower dose form of AZ-004, a drug Alexza Pharmaceuticals is exploring as a potential way for medical professionals to treat agitation in patients who are bipolar or schizophrenic

Multiple myeloma drug trials to launch in Australia

A drug designed for patients with multiple myeloma is to undergo phase II clinical trials in Australia, it has been announced.

Drug maker Cytopia Limited said it plans to recruit up to 24 people with a relapsed or refractory form of the condition who have not responded satisfactorily to previously approved treatments.
